My other plane's a bus: or does 2 x 747 = 380 ?

The A380 flying double-decker bus arrived in Britain yesterday apparently with a smirking Gordon Brown in the driving seat but out of control. The manufacturers admitted that air turbulence flight tests had shown that Gordon created a greater "wake vortex" (which can prove catastrophic) than his predecessor and rival, the visibly aging, lighter weight BlAir, I mean Boeing 747. As a result, the International Civil Aviation Organisation have stated that the gap between an A380 and any following aircraft landing must be 11 miles, double the distance for a 747. So, if the 747 carries some 500 passengers and the A380 can carry 840 passengers, but only half as many A380s can land, could you please run past me again how that is progress exactly?

And how did anyone come up with the glamorous name 'Airbus'? Does that mean we're going to wait for ages and then two are going to try to land at the same time? Sorry.....
