Tarnishing the Scottish brand tarnishes us all

It’s boring and a distraction I know, but that a small minority in Scotland are using a sporting competition to stir up anti-British and specifically anti-English feeling to further their own political ends and public figures and the media are not only not condemning it, but encouraging it, is wrong. To make being English or any other community in Scotland uncomfortable (like the smashing of someone's windows for flying a St George flag for instance*) is not funny. Sadly genetic purity based on Celticness and a well founded reputation for racial and religious intolerance and bigotry is unattractive and tarnishes the Scottish brand and the British as well.
