We need a ‘Start Stopping Real Crime’ campaign

A landlady of a pub who organised a St George's Day archery competition using the dragon on a Welsh flag as the target has been interviewed for two hours by Somerset police investigating a report of alleged incitement to cause racial hatred. I assume (hope) that police have a system of prioritising crimes which means that if a murder turns up they stop harassing young people on street corners and put away their speed guns. We are besieged by scare stories that there is more and more crime and we need more and more police but that this was the number one crime for these officers means that in fact the police just don’t have enough to do – and this is obviously endemic: watch any sporting event (golf, tennis) and count the policemen. In an ideal world we wouldn’t need or have any police and in the meantime we need fewer job creation opportunities and laws applied by fewer ‘job’s worth’ police.
